Prunus x cistena
Purpleleaf sand cherry

Alternate, simple, and elliptic, the 2-3" dark maroon-purple, leaves have an acute to slightly acuminate apex, acute base and are sharply serrate. The petioles lack glands but new leaves are briefly accompanied by 1/2" linear stipules at the base of the petiole. If shaded the foliage will be purplish green.
