Prunus sargentii
Sargent cherry

Culture: The Sargent cherry performs best in full sun with acidic to neutral soils that are moist and well-drained.

This species is less troubled with problems typical of the genus, and is often rated as one of the best cherries, especially in cooler climates.

Usage: The Sargent cherry makes an excellent small to medium-sized shade and ornamental tree, either as a specimen or in small groups. Placed in front of dark evergreens, the flowering effect will be maximized. "Columnaris' is a commonly sold narrow form with a narrow vase-shaped habit.
