Prunus triloba var. multiplex
Double-flowering almond

Culture: The double flowering almond is a fairly tough plant. It prefers full sun for best flowering and will tolerate acidic to neutral soils. It is fairly easy to transplant in its youth.

The stems of this species are fairly attractive to rabbits and the flowers can be injured by spring frosts. Although there are several potential insect and disease problems, this species is a fairly tough and durable plant, requiring little care.

Usage: The showy flowers of this species lend to its use as a specimen. Although spectacular in flower, this is a single-season-of-interest plant, has little to offer the remainder of the year. It can also be used as a border where space permits a shrub of this size.
