Quercus acutissima
Sawtooth oak

The 3 to 7" leaves are alternate, simple and oblong to obovate-oblong shaped. The leaf margins are serrate with a bristle-like point terminating each of the 12-19 lateral veins. The leaf base is rounded to broad cuneate and the apex is acuminate. They are lustrous dark green above and glabrous below except for axillary tufts of hairs. The new unfolding leaves have an attractive whitish or silvery white cast.
