Rhamnus frangula
Glossy buckthorn

The tips of the young stems are pubescent, becoming glabrous within inches of the apex. A useful identification feature is the gray elongated lenticels prominently displayed on reasonably vigorous gray-brown stems. On less vigorous stems, the lenticels are much less elongated.
