| Rhododendron mucronulatum Korean rhododendronAppearing in mid to late March, the 1 1/2" diameter flowers are pale rosy purple with 10 stamens. They are borne in small clusters of 3-6 at the ends of the stem. The overall effect is somewhat less spectacular than many rhododendrons but they are still valued for their early display. Because of their early flowering time, they are easily killed by frosts that inevitably follow early warm weather. A white flowered var. album can occasionally be found in the trade. |
