Ribes alpinum
Alpine currant

A good foliage shrub known for its early bright green leaves and frequent usage in hedges or as sheared plants. Since female plants of this species serve as an alternate host for White Pine Blister Rust, planting of this species is generally illegal in states where white pines are plentiful.
