Ribes alpinum
Alpine currant

Alternate, simple and 3-lobed (5-lobed possible), the 1-2" leaves are bright green, triangular ovate to sometimes rhombic, incised and serrate. The leaf base is truncate to subcordate and the apex is acute to obtuse. Multiple leaves of varying sizes, are often borne at the nodes, with the smallest having only 1/8" blades. This species leafs out early in spring, a characteristic for which it is well known.
