Alternate, simple and bearing a crinkled margin, these dark green leaves have gray pubescent undersides and margins that are both wavy and undulate. They are 2-3" long and lanceolate-elliptic to oval-oblanceolate in shape, with hooked serrations along the margins and impressed venation. The acuminate apex is often curled or hooked in shape. On some leaves the margin may be nearly entire.
