Sorbus alnifolia
Korean mountainash

This little-known, but beautiful species has glossy, entire leaves and moderately showy white flowers, eventually giving way to small red fruit. It does not have problems with borers and fire-blight like most members of Sorbus, but like the crabapples, only produces flowers and fruit in greatest quantities in alternate years.

Habit:Pyramidal in youth, becoming rounded
Size:40-50' high
Color:Dark green in summer, becoming orange to yellow-brown in autumn
Texture:Medium
Hardiness:Zone 4b USDA
Habitat:Korea - China - Japan
Family:Rosaceae
