Spiraea japonica
Japanese spirea

Alternate, simple and lanceolate, ovate or lanceolate-ovate, the 1 - 3" leaves are coarsely serrate to doubly incised-serrate with an acute to sometimes slightly acuminate apex and a wide cuneate base. The slightly dull and short-petioled leaves are glabrous and green above and green to glaucous green below with a small amount of pubescence on the veins. The mature leaf color of the various cultivars ranges from dark green to yellow-green or yellow. On many of the cultivars, the new leaves emerge red in color.
