Stephanandra incisa StephanandraCulture: This species will perform well in full sun to moderate shade in soils that are either acidic or neutral and reasonably moist. Little to no pruning is needed because of the uniform branching. Some removal of winter injured stems may be necessary in some years. The genes name is derived from stephanos = crown and andros = male, because of the persistent upright ring of stamens. Cutleaf stephanandra is typically free from serious insect and disease problems. Usage: The mounded habit makes this plant well suited for use in shrub borders or masses. Its uniform mounded habit may also make it useful as a structural specimen. If size is limited, the common dwarf form 'Crispa' is very useful. |
