Vaccinium corymbosum
Highbush blueberry

A real bonus for a landscape plant, the edible blue-black berries turn from green to red to a blue-black and are covered with a waxy bloom, giving a light blue overall color. The 1/4 - 1/2" fruits begin to mature around the 4th of July and continue for about 1 month. Commercial cultivars have been selected for large fruit production and early, mid or late season crops. Cross pollination is best for maximum fruit production, so be sure to select cultivars with fairly similar flowering times.
