Viburnum x burkwoodii
Burkwood viburnum

Borne with a beautiful spicy-aromatic fragrance, the flowers occur in 2-3" wide ball-like cymes. They are pink in bud, turning white as they open fully. They normally flower in mid to late April in Illinois, lasting about two weeks. Although beautiful to behold, the flowers are widely spaced on the plant providing only a moderately effective show. A single flower can fill a whole room with its delightful fragrance. Individual flowers are 1/3" in diameter with a corolla that has 5 rounded petals and yellow anthers.
