Viburnum carlesii
Koreanspice viburnum

The globose flower buds are 1/4 to 1/2" in diameter and covered in grayish pubescence. Similar to those of Viburnum x burkwoodii, the flower buds are aggregations of of thick tan pubescent scales. The ¼ - ½" naked and foliose vegetative buds are also pubescent and often wrap around and extend beyond the flower buds, producing a "Viking helmet" appearance.
