Like A. arborea, the young leaves on this species are also densely pubescent, but become entirely glabrous when mature. These elliptic to oblong leaves are borne in an alternate arrangement, and range from 1 1/2 - 2 1/2" long with a width of about 1/2 the length. Often rounded, they are occasionally cordate at the base, but always uniformly toothed with fine serrations.
