Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea' Purple-leaved Japanese barberry
The flowers are mostly yellow, tinged with purple and are borne from mid April to May. Because the yellow flower color contrasts sharply with the purple foliage, the flowers are a bit more interesting than on the green species.
