Chaenomeles speciosa
Common flowering quince

The 1 1/2" diameter 5-petaled flowers are showy and bright colored, ranging from orange, red, pink, peach and white in color. Since the bloom period is in mid to late April, flowers are sometimes damaged by late frosts. In some years, early leaf emergence partially masks the flower display.
