Cladrastis kentukea
American yellowwood

A medium deciduous tree known for its smooth gray bark, vase-shaped habit, and extremely fragrant pendulous white flowers. The major limitation to the wide use of this species was known long ago, as "Cladrastis" means "brittle wood" in Greek. It is also listed as Cladrastis lutea, a synonym.
