Cotoneaster lucidus
Hedge cotoneaster

Appearing in September and persisting for quite some time, the fruit is a small, 2/5" diameter glossy black pome containing 3 or 4 nutlets. The black fruits can be useful to distinguish this species from the many red-fruited species of cotoneaster.
