The small showy flowers have a narrow fused corolla, often with 4-lobes, and are about 1/4" long. This spring flowering plant is best viewed from April to May in the central parts of the country, when it puts forth a spectacular display of pink, red, purple or white flowers accented by the dark green foliage. In warmer southern climates, it can flower from late winter to early spring.
