Hedera helix
English ivy

There are 2 forms of leaves on this evergreen species: juvenile and adult, with juvenile forms being most common. The vast majority of plants seen in the trade or landscape are juvenile for their entire lifespan. The juvenile leaves are alternate, simple, broad triangular-ovate, 1 1/2 - 4" long with 3-5 lobes, entire margins and a cordate base. The dark green surface is contrasted by the light green palmate venation, especially in winter. The much less common adult plants have rhombic bright green glossy leaves with pinnate venation and lacking lobes.
