Hypericum calycinum
Aaronsbeard St. John's wort

The main reason people grow this species, the bright yellow flowers are 3" across and singly borne with large numbers of stamens. Each flower contains five 1 - 1 1/2" obovate yellow petals subtending a pin-cushion like mass of very thin 1 1/2" long yellow stamens with red to brown anthers. They are continuously produced on new wood from June through September.
