Hypericum calycinum
Aaronsbeard St. John's wort

Culture: This relatively fast growing species does well in full sun or part shade and poor sandy soils. Dirr recommends that plants should be mown to the ground each spring to promote new growth. Flint notes that leaves of this genus are toxic to livestock.

This is a relatively trouble-free species.

Usage: This species makes a nice dark green ground cover. I have seen it used on both steep slopes and flat areas quite effectively.
