Monoecious, solitary, and subtly attractive in spring, they are similar to those of Larix decidua. The male pollen-bearing flowers are oval, yellow-brown, and 1/4" long. The female flowers are larger, 1/3 - 1/2" long, ovoid cones that are reddish and borne in the axils of larger, older branches.
