Menispermum canadense
Common moonseed

The rounded twining stems are fluted with numerous decurrent ridges that spiral around the stem producing a cable-like appearance. The young green stems turn to reddish brown with fairly large, raised and crater-like oval leaf scars. The stems usually die back to the ground in the winter in zone 5.
