Oxydendrum arboreum
Sourwood

A small to large rounded-pyramidal, deciduous tree with showy white flowers and excellent fall color. This species requires acid soils to survive. The genus name means acid tree.

Habit:Pyramidal in youth becoming rounded-pyramidal with drooping branches
Size:25 to 30' high in the Midwest, but in appropriate environments 50 to 70' high in landscapes
Color:Lustrous dark green
Texture:Medium
Hardiness:Zone 5b USDA
Habitat:Pennsylvania - Florida - Louisiana - Indiana
