Pinus flexilis
Limber pine

Culture: This long-lived species shows good adaptability, but performs best in moist, well-drained, acidic, loamy soils with full sun. It will however, tolerate hot or cold locations, as well as dry, windy, and exposed sites. An example its toughness can be seen in one of the bark images showing the plant growing out of nearly solid rock.

Generally a fairly trouble-free species, but like other pines is subject to rusts, mistletoe, root rot and insects common to the genus.

Usage: The Limber pine makes an excellent specimen plant. It is useful because of its adaptability to dry and exposed sites. The attractive light bluish green forms that are so common in the trade are listed as 'Glauca'.
