Prunus maackii
Amur chokecherry

The spectacular bark of this species is more than enough reason to grow this plant if you are in the right environment. The thin smooth bark ranges from amber to a bright highly glossy copper color with prominent long, horizontal lenticels. On some trees, the bark has more of a reddish coppery color and exfoliates with age. Unfortunately, the bark tends to be more amber colored in warm climates.
