Prunus tomentosa
Manchu cherry

This species is named for the pubescent undersides of its leaves. They are alternate, simple, obovate and 1 1/2 - 2 1/2" long with unequally serrate margins. The impressed venation provides a distinctive rugose appearance. The lower surface of the leaves is densely pubescent while the upper surface is more sparcely pubescent. The apices are abruptly acuminate and the bases are cuneate to rounded. The leaves differ from those of Prunus triloba var. multiplex by being unlobed. The petiole may have glands present and string-like stipules are borne at the base of new leaves.
