Rhododendron 'PJM'
PJM rhododendron

Although an evergreen, the leaves turn purple to nearly black in the winter season. When the weather turns particularly cold, the leaves will curl lengthwise to reduce their exposure to sunlight in an attempt to minimize water stress. The leaves will return to green in spring.
