Taxodium distichum
Common baldcypress

The slender stems are green in color the first season, turning to yellowish-brown with some gray overcast in the second year. The stems that develop at the shoot tips form buds for continuing growth while the lateral branchlets that bear many of the leaves fall off with most of their leaves intact in the fall.
