It makes an attractive screen or hedge, a nice addition to the shrub border, or it may be massed or used as a specimen. There are many cultivars available. 'Mohican' is a compact form, growing to 8', that has orange-red fruits that are ornamental for a month or more. 'Aureum' has young stems that are golden yellow turning green and also grows to 8'. 'Rugosum' has larger, rugose leaves that are darker green than the species, as well as larger flowers. 'Variegatum' has leaves with yellow variegation. |
