| Amelanchier stolonifera Running serviceberryThere appears to be some confusion regarding the value of fall coloration on this species. Krussman calls it A. obovalis and gives it little landscape value with a yellow fall color. An article by Bruce Cubberly and Ed Hasselkus in a 1987 copy of American Nurseryman states that this species has orange fall color, but I have seen specimens with brilliant red fall coloration as well. It appears that the species is either consistently confused with A. humilis (which has a more yellowish color), or that there is a great deal of variation in autumn coloration. Showiness would range from moderate to exceptional. |
