Chionanthus virginicus
White fringetree

An interesting characteristic of this species, the dark blue ellipsoidal drupes have a light waxy bloom and hang down in grape-like clusters. Individually ranging from 1/2" to 3/4" in length, they mature in early September, and attract birds and other wildlife that pick them off almost immediately. They are borne only on female or predominately female plants in the presence of male pollinators.
