Cotoneaster lucidus
Hedge cotoneaster

In contrast to the other cotoneasters, the slender stems are light brown to yellow-brown in color; although the newest stems are reddish brown for a time. The young stems are often pubescent at their apex. Second and third year stems and glossy and often exhibit a slight "onion-skin effect" from the epidermis. The older stems also form a great many extremely thin and short lateral branches. This cotoneaster can be readily identified in winter by its brown stem coloration.
