Hypericum frondosum
Golden St. John's wort

The 3-celled dark brown capsules are 3/4" long, borne in late summer and persisting through the winter. The capsules of this species are longer and darker than the 1/2" reddish brown 3-parted capsules of Hypericum prolificum; and always 3-parted, as compared to the 1/2"-long, 3-5-parted capsules of Hypericum kalmianum.
