Magnolia tripetala
Umbrella magnolia

Creamy white and unpleasantly fragrant, the 6 to 10"-diameter flowers have 6 to 9 off-white inner tepals that are 4-5" long and 3 outer sepal-like tepals that are reflexed downward and colored reddish green. The flowers open from late May to early June.
