Magnolia tripetala
Umbrella magnolia

Culture: Like other magnolias, this species likes moist acid to neutral soils. Unlike many other magnolias, this species will grow in partial shade to moderate shade or full sun provided adequate moisture is available.

Other than wind damage to the leaves, this plant generally has few problems.

Usage: Best used as a specimen either singly or in small groups in a large landscape because of its coarse texture. Wind protection is important to prevent leaf tatter.
