Populus tremuloides
Quaking aspen

Culture: Culture: The quaking aspen is naturally a short-lived tree, but it is one of the first species to sprout following a forest fire. It should be grown in full sun with moist soils and an acid to neutral pH.

Although quite adaptable culturally, it has a number of nuisance insect and disease problems.

Usage: It is not commonly used in formal landscapes. If used, it can be quite effective when planted in groves as would occur naturally. This species is also an important pulp source for the paper industry.
