Prunus serrulata

Prunus serrulata
Oriental cherry

Alternate, simple, and ovate to ovate-lanceolate or rarely obovate, the 2-5" glabrous and glossy leaves have a long acuminate apex and a rounded base. The margins are serrate to doubly serrate with fine bristly-pointed serrations. Two to four glands are borne on the petiole just below the blade. In spring, the newly emerging leaves are bronzy purple in color.
