Catawba rhododendron

This medium to large rounded native shrub of the Appalachian Mountains is known for its large clusters of very showy lilac-purple or white flowers and large dark evergreen foliage. Through hybridization, selections with red, purple, pink, peach and chartreuse flowers abound.

Habit:Rounded, sometimes narrower than tall and in others slightly broad-rounded; can become leggy if cultural conditions are unsatisfactory
Size:6-10' high
Color:Dark green
Texture:Coarse
Hardiness:Most often zone 5b/6a USDA, depending upon selection varies from 4a to 6b
Habitat:Appalachian and Allegheny mountains; West Virginia - Georgia - Alabama - Kentucky
