Rhododendron catawbiense
Catawba rhododendron

Alternate, simple and elliptic to oblong, the 2-5" evergreen leaves are dark green above, thick, leathery and tend to be bunched at the stem ends. The entire margins are rolled downward giving a slightly convex shape. The leaves are glabrous with netted venation and light green undersides. Their bases are narrowly rounded while the apices are obtuse and mucronate pointed.
