Salix alba
Weeping willow

Appearing in early March to early April, the dioecious flowers are borne in upright catkins. In general, male plants are most often sold in the trade to prevent excessive seeding.

The slightly showy male catkins are yellow, upright, 1 1/2 - 2 1/4" catkins with 2 stamens.

The female catkins are greenish-yellow and not showy.
