Viburnum dentatum
Arrowwood viburnum

Imbricate, narrow ovate and red in color, the glabrous, small, 3/16 – ¼" buds are less distinctive for identification than many of the other viburnums. A close examination of the 2 lower bud scales shows that they form a distinctive v-shaped notch centered over the leaf scar. The bud scales may be slightly keeled and the lateral buds are appressed.
