Different from many other viburnums, this species produces blue colored oval drupes from September to October. The dark blue drupes attract birds. The slightly ornamental drupes are 3/16 – ¼" long. The brightness of the blue color differs from plant to plant, affecting the showiness. They are readily eaten by the birds.
