Liriodendron tulipifera
Tuliptree,Yellow poplar

Tulip-like in form, the 2" diameter orange, yellow, and green flowers appear in mid-May to early June. The six petals are green at the top, orange in the middle and bright yellow at their base. As in other members of this family, there are large numbers of stamens and a compound pistil. They are usually borne fairly high in the branches, and are consequently missed by many. Although interesting from up close, they blend into the foliage of the tree from a distance, only being slightly showy.
